Executive Summary
Every child can learn - anywhere - from the earliest days of life. Still, most education systems lack the capacity to make learning accessible for children with disabilities. For 200 years, Perkins School for the Blind (Perkins) has developed innovative, practical solutions to help every child learn. Around the world, Perkins knits together frayed education, health, and social services; coaches and mentors professionals, building local capacity to design and deliver inclusive learning; and unlocks the power of parents as educators, leaders, and advocates. Perkin's holistic approach collaboratively builds up local model programs to show how making quality learning accessible, including learning through play, to children with disabilities is possible, anywhere. With resources to expand work across 25 countries, Perkins can model the feasibility of building a world that includes the 240 million children with disabilities, everywhere, from the start. Perkins works with a core network of over 100 cross-sector local partners across 16 countries, including schools, NGOs, governments, universities, foundations, multilaterals, community groups, parent networks, and innovation hubs.
